Oko to pick only fit players against Mali

Onome Ebi Bamako Mali African champion Super Falcons Head Coach Edwin Okon

Super Falcons Head Coach, Edwin Okon, says fitness will decide the players that will feature against Mali.

The African champions will host the West African opponents in an All Africa Games qualifying match on April 08 in Abuja.

First fixture clash in Bamako, Mali ended 1-1 as the overall winner will qualify for the football event of the AAG in Congo Brazzaville.

Okon said his side stands a good chance to qualify for the multi-sport championship ahead of the West African challengers, Mali.

“Fitness of players will decides who gets the opportunity to feature against Mali in the reverse fixture in Abuja and that includes Onome Ebi who didn’t get the chance to play in Bamako, Mali.

“Nobody will be given automatic shirt on sentiment but strictly on fitness and form in training.

“We want to win and qualify for the All Africa Games in Congo Brazzaville and will feature the best legs in the clash.

“Of course, we’ve big chance to win the reverse fixture in Abuja especially as we now understand the pattern and style of Malians than we did in the first fixture in Bamako.

“We’ll beat them hands down when both sides take to the pitch to decide who pick the ticket for Congo Brazzaville,” said the former Falconets head coach said.

Falcons resumed camp on Monday after the elections break and will start training in earnest on Tuesday for the make or mar clash against Mali.
